In accordance with the Federal Immission Control Act (BImSchG), operators of plants requiring authorization are obligated to have the type and scope of emissions from their facilities regularly assessed by an accredited measuring body, as notified under Section 29b BImSchG. Our experts conduct these emission measurements for a wide range of individual substances.

TÜV NORD provides independent technical due diligence, technical inspections, and standards-compliant certifications of energy storage systems – including large-scale battery storage and associated system components – to ensure stable grid integration, long-term operational reliability, and a sustainable energy future.

Odor forecasts are essential for urban land-use planning and approval processes, as they calculate the frequency of odor perceptions in the vicinity of a facility. By utilizing odor-relevant data and weather information, they assess potential nuisances in accordance with the Federal Immission Control Act.
Odour measurements
Odor measurements are used to determine the concentration of odorous substances in the air, often through olfactometry, which employs the human nose as a sensor. Samples are collected in odor-proof bags and analyzed in the laboratory to evaluate the intensity and frequency of odors, helping to prevent nuisances.
