This is also known by its acronym: IoT. In the Internet of Things, everyday objects like toasters, heaters or speakers have their own IT interfaces. The idea is for the access to the Internet these interfaces provide to make the use of the equipment they are built into easier and more convenient for people. This is not a vision – it has long since become a reality: Printers, televisions and cars are of course Internet-capable today and belong just as much to the Internet of Things as washing machines with Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth dummies.
