Class C1
Motor vehicles (except those in categories AM, A1, A2, A, D1 and D)
- with a maximum authorised mass of more than 3500 kg but not more than 7500 kg and
- constructed and designed for the carriage of not more than 8 persons in addition to the driver, also with trailer
- with a maximum authorised mass not exceeding 750 kg.

Time limit: | -Class C1 is generally only issued for 5 years; thereafter it is extended for a further 5 years after submission of a positive aptitude test (health check and ophthalmological report). |

Class C1E
Class B towing vehicle in combination with
- a trailer or semi-trailer with a maximum authorised mass of more than 3500 kg and
- maximum authorised mass of the combination of not more than 12000 kg (previously category BE, if the maximum authorised mass GM of the trailer was greater than 750 kg)
Class C1 towing vehicle in combination with
- a trailer or semi-trailer with a maximum authorised mass of more than 750 kg and
- a maximum authorised mass of the combination of not more than 12000 kg

Class C

Class CE
Class C towing vehicles in combination with
- a trailer or semi-trailer with a maximum authorised mass of more than 750 kg

The CE category driving licence can be obtained at the age of 18: a) after completing the basic qualification in accordance with § 4 Para. 1 BKrQK b) for persons during or after completing vocational training in 1. the state-recognised training occupation "professional driver" 2. the state-recognised training occupation "specialist in driving operations" or 3. a state-recognised training occupation in which comparable skills and knowledge for driving motor vehicles on public roads are taught. |
Additional authorisations
These authorisations apply to all C classes, i.e. C1, C1E, C and CE
A category C1 driving licence also entitles the holder to drive vehicles with a maximum authorised mass of more than 3500 kg, but not more than 7500 kg, and which are designed and constructed to carry no more than eight persons in addition to the driver, with the following special purpose, in particular, which is decisive for the approval of the vehicle types:
- Fire brigade emergency vehicles,
- police emergency vehicles,
- Emergency vehicles of rescue services recognised under state law,
- Emergency vehicles of the technical relief organisation,
- Emergency vehicles of other civil defence units,
- ambulances,
- emergency and ambulance vehicles,
- bullet-proof vehicles,
- Post, radio and telecommunications vehicles,
- Specialised sales vehicles,
- Wheelchair-accessible vehicles,
- hearses and
- camper vans.
This applies accordingly to C1E, C and CE driving licences.
