Creating individual solutions with shadow flicker assessment
Shadow flicker can be a limiting factor during the planning of a wind farm project. Our shadow flicker assessment helps to reach the most optimal wind farm design in compliance with legal licensing standards.
Usually, the shadow flicker analysis is carried out by assuming a worst case scenario (e.g. clear sky, no vegetation, solar irradiation and rotor disc area are at right angle, etc.). These assumptions result in the maximum possible duration of shadow flicker for each investigated receptor point. If necessary, the calculations are done in consideration of previous impacts by existing wind turbines. With respect to the expected energy yield, a shadow flicker assessment can also be conducted by applying a meteorological probably case under consideration of the mean distribution of wind direction cloud cover on the site.
The calculations are carried out by using the SHADOW module of the software WindPRO.
