What are electronic time stamps?
An electronic time stamp links data in electronic form to a specific point in time, thereby providing evidence that this data existed at that time. For this purpose, the time stamp includes the exact date and the exact time of its creation. In the form of a qualified electronic time stamp, it links the time information with the data by means of an advanced electronic signature or an equivalent process so that any changes can be detected. Electronic time stamps are based on a correct time source which is linked to Coordinated Universal Time (UTC).
