What are electronic seals?
An electronic seal serves as proof that an electronic document has been signed by a legal person. Technically, the seal corresponds to a signature; legally, it stands for the integrity as well as the correctness of the data's proof of origin. The electronic seal is a kind of electronic company stamp. Electronic seals can also be generated by IT systems and are therefore an efficient tool to support secure automated processes. Possible application scenarios include email, electronic receipt stamps, seals on certificates and authentications or seals for mass invoicing. An electronic seal - like the electronic signature comes in the form of an advanced or qualified electronic seal. The qualified electronic seal is legally binding and recognized throughout Europe.
