Notched bar impact test

Notched impact strength test

In the notched bar impact test, the notched bar impact energy is used to determine the toughness of materials at different temperatures. Knowledge of the deformation behavior of the material is an important criterion for material assessment or material selection. Preferably, the impact energy is determined at different temperatures, as the behavior at low temperatures is of particular interest. In the notched bar impact test, standardized test specimens notched on one side are smashed on a pendulum impact tester. TÜV NORD offers notched impact tests according to DIN EN ISO 148, i.e. test procedures with metallic materials. Pendulum impact testers with an impact energy of 300 J and 450 J are available for the tests at high and low temperatures. We make the necessary notched bar impact test specimens from the specimens and materials supplied by you. The notched bar impact test is thus a simple and fast procedure for materials in industry that are frequently subjected to dynamic, impact-type loading.
